Sparrow Hill Farm
We, Josiah and Nettie and our little farmers Edmund, Aaron, and Marco, are the stewards of Sparrow Hill Farm. Sparrow Hill Farm is just outside Monroe WI, and is comprised of a motley collection of different pieces of land leased by us as well as custom partnerships where we manage livestock that is jointly raised by a fellow farmer. Our farming methods are unconventional but our mission is simple, "Embrace Life".

This means we put the soil and the environment first in our farming practices by avoiding industry standard subtherapeutic antibiotics, synthetic worming medicines, and continuous overgrazing of the land. These conventional farming methods kill soil life and structure leading to erosion, destruction of fertility, and the release of excess carbon into the atmosphere.
The land we steward is often degraded or not useful for industrial farming anymore. We are working hard to bring life back into the soil and environment with careful regenerative management of our livestock. We rotationally graze our cattle, sheep, and pigs. When we put the soil health and environment first, it leads to happy, healthy animals and a superior product both in flavor and nutrition on your plate.
We know as a conscious consumer who is tired of the industrial food machine, you may have more questions as well as insight into how we can do better. If you do have any questions about any of the process of how our meat gets to your plate, insight into how we can do it better, or want to come visit for yourself please reach out support@sparrowhillfarm.net. Nettie or I will answer you. The boys would rather just type emojis. 😀
Bering Bounty
We love the benefits and nutrition eating quality seafood gives to our diet, but had some trouble raising salmon and cod in the pastures with our sheep, pigs and cattle :). So, we're doing the next best thing and working with Captain Mark from Bering Bounty of Alaska.
Mark's business is actually based out of Madison WI. While he spends most of the year with his boats fishing in Alaska, Mark calls Wisconsin his home (proof in the sweatshirt). He uses sustainable and ethical techniques to harvest some of the highest quality fish you'll find. The fish is then quick frozen and vacuum packed on the shore and sent by freighter to Seattle. Mark then uses a WI-based trucking company to bring it the last leg of the journey here to the Midwest.
It's as close as we can get to the experience of buying straight off the coast.
Bryant Family Farms
Bryant Family Farms is a premier pastured poultry farm in southwest Wisconsin. On their property, just outside of Mineral Point, WI, founder Nico Bryant raises his poultry on lush, nutrient-dense forage. He specializes in French Label Rouge birds, which are a slower growing, thicker skin and more flavorful bird.
Their poultry is provided ample access to grass and frequently rotated. The birds live outside as the season of the year allows and as much as is appropriate for the age of the bird.
Green Fire Farm
Green Fire farm is a beautiful regenerative farm just a few minutes from us in Monticello WI. They are partnering with us to help give a more consistent supply of beef for us until our herd is big enough to supply our needs. Jacob and Carly from Green Fire Farm are passionate about good food, the environment and a clean healthy future.
They raise a quality product with the care and ethics that meet all our standards here at Sparrow Hill Farm as well as the things you care about as an educated and thoughtful consumer. We love working with other local farms because it takes a community to change the world!

Joe's Farm
This Winter 2025 we are temporarily sourcing our chicken from Joe's Farm in MI. The Poultry is processed just across the border in Ohio and then sent to our farm here in Monroe WI. While the product is fantastic and the ethics and protocols of Joe's farm are topnotch, we still prefer to source from closer to home. Early Summer 2025 we should have our first batch of poultry ready from our local Sparrow Hill Farm collaboration.
About Joe and the History of Joe's Farm
Joe's Farm is a first generation small family farm that produces high quality food in a way that is good for our customers, the animal, and the environment through regenerative methods and pastured poultry. Joe's Farm was founded in 2011 by Joe Koopsen at the age of 15. Joe started raising chickens in 2008 at the age of 12 with a few hens in his backyard, selling eggs through Facebook. Joe quickly realized he wanted to provide fresh eggs to more people.
Having not been brought up in a farming family, Joe gained a passion for poultry by joining 4-H and showing chickens when he was 12. His flock eventually outgrew the backyard. In 2011, Joe's parents bought a few acres in the country to allow Joe to expand. Joe grew his flock to support a growing demand and Joe's Farm was founded.
When Joe decided that farming was what he wanted to do for a living, he knew that pastured poultry and regenerative farming were the methods that matched his vision for the farm. In 2015, Joe's family bought the farm on Pulver Road in Three Rivers, MI, where Joe implemented his vision and began growing the farm. Since them, Joe's Farm has added two additional properties. Joe, along with his wife Adele Koopsen and their sons Rowan and William, farm full time on their beautiful farm in SW Michigan.
The Background of Joe's Farm
Joe's Farm uses only regenerative, sustainable farming methods. This includes moving animals daily and rotating pastures. This is beneficial for the soil, environment, and our animals. Movement is fundamental to Joe's Farm. We do this by day ranging our poultry and using moveable coops. We use natural methods to care for our animals and believe that a more natural lifestyle is key to their health and happiness of our animals. Through these regenerative methods Joe's Farm produces high quality, delicious meats that are better for you!
Our chickens enjoy happy, healthy, and stress-free lives! Joe's Farm receives chicks 12 hours after they have hatched. They start their lives on Joe' Farm in a safe, warm brooder barn. Once they reach 3 weeks old, they leave the brooder and are moved to one of our several pastures. Once on the pasture, they live outside where they are free to eat grass, bugs, and worms. Our chickens are fed either a non-gmo or corn-free, soy-free feed. Our turkeys are fed a non-gmo feed. All of our poultry are also antibiotic and hormone free and are moved to new, fresh pasture daily. Visit our farm store (located at 53323 Pulver Road Three Rivers, MI) or shop with us online. We hope you join us in this regenerative farming experience!
