The symbiosis between regenerative farming and nature

The symbiosis between regenerative farming and nature

There are so many areas where our farming operation has a perfect symbiotic relationship with Nature.

Take a look at this picture. You'll notice a redwing blackbird singing his heart out on a fence post. In the foreground are contented grazing sheep. The tall reeds behind the blackbird mark the borders of a small creek.

Since we have been grazing these pastures, the blackbird’s population has seen phenomenal growth along the creeks. Grazing the animals brings bugs and all kinds of other food into the blackbird’s territory. And protecting the nesting area along the creek from damage allows ample room for the birds to rear their young.

Turns out, when you farm in a way that provides food and housing to the beautiful wild things, they thrive. The farm also benefits as the blackbirds eat many potentially noxious bugs. I don’t think the sheep mind being serenaded as they graze either.\

Managing the farm within the wild systems rather than against brings health, beauty and peace to the American farmscape. A farmscape so often focused on nature as a threat rather than an inevitable companion. A companion, that with a little love and care can become an ally!

Thanks for joining us in our mission to heal the land and produce good food!
