How to Build a Farm Favorite Breakfast all on the Grill

Wisconsin summers are too short. So, we like to take every chance to enjoy the fresh air of a beautiful summer morning. That includes cooking a hearty breakfast or brunch completely outside on the gas grill.

This is one of our favorite breakfasts that we do on the grill here at the farm.

  1. Thaw out a package of Sage Pork Breakfast Sausage Links. Prep the links by snipping them apart with kitchen shears.
  2. Heat the griddle and oil it to get it ready for the eggs.
  3. On the other side of the grill, get the links cooking over medium heat.
  4. While the sausages are grilling, crack some Pastured Eggs on the griddle.
  5. Heat up a small pot of pure maple syrup on the grill.
  6. Flip the eggs when they are ready and close the grill for a few moments. Remove the eggs when they are cooked to your favorite level of doneness.
  7. As everything cooks, turn the sausages every few minutes to create a nice brown crust on all sides.
  8. Take a moment to listen to and enjoy the sizzle.
  9. Take the sausages off the grill once they are done cooking.
  10. Cover the eggs and sausages in foil to keep warm while you finish up breakfast.
  11. Turn the heat up on the griddle to get ready for the pancakes.
  12. Butter the griddle to create a beautiful crust on the pancakes.
  13. Pour your favorite pancake batter (we like making from-scratch whole-grain pancakes) on the griddle.
  14. Flip the pancakes when ready.
  15. When ready to serve, transfer the warmed syrup to a serving pitcher.
  16. Dish up breakfast.
  17. Spruce up the plates with some extra nutrition with a small salad using arugula, spinach or lettuce from the farmer's market.
  18. Dig in and enjoy!

Why you should pay more for meat

It is common to hear complaints of rising grocery prices. People are concerned. They worry and feel out of control. Out of control of rising prices. Fearful of what is in the food when they do buy it. Terrified that they may lose access all together. There is a reason for this and it did not happen overnight. Consumer's fears are valid. But there is a fix. It is on our hands. We need to take back control.

Sharing the Farm with Wildlife

The pastures where we raise our livestock are not only home to our animals. They are frequented by the local wildlife population. Deer, turkey, foxes, and rabbits are among the many varieties that call our farm home. But it's not just because they live there that they frequent our pastures. Read on to learn how we actually design the way we farm to welcome the existence of a healthy, local, wildlife population.
