A personal note about farm operations

We just moved our shipping operation from a cramped little shed to this beautiful space last week! This is where we ship your boxes as well as pack for farmers' market. But what is so personal about that?

Well, this is the basement of a house that we have been building since April of last year! A house that hopefully our family will be moving into within 2 months. Nettie and I just celebrated our 7th anniversary and 5th year of running the farm. We have been living in a little one bedroom apartment as our family has grown to 3 little boys. Needless to say, quarters have been cramped.

Finally, thanks to having a decent day job, wonderful customers to support the growing farm business, and willingness to live on a bit of a shoestring, we were positioned to be able to start building. We have been building this ourselves and sub-contracting out the parts we don't do well: plumbing, drywall, electrical, etc.

This is really good news for everyone involved. Obviously, a place to live for us, but also increased efficiency in fulfilling your orders! This will allow us to scale the business to hopefully step back from our day jobs and work full time serving you. The basement is your part of the house! Supported by you and serving you!

We want to farm and produce excellent meat that builds the earth and community. We have heard that you want us to stick around. That you really enjoy eating what we have to offer and appreciate our mission. Being able to focus full time on this farm by having it grow to a place that it can support us is mission critical to the success of meeting these needs.

Thank you so much for sticking with us on this delicious journey of faith, caring for the land, and business building. We deeply appreciate your support and hope we can continue serving you long into the future!

P.S. Ill share some pics of our part of the house later :)

Why you should pay more for meat

It is common to hear complaints of rising grocery prices. People are concerned. They worry and feel out of control. Out of control of rising prices. Fearful of what is in the food when they do buy it. Terrified that they may lose access all together. There is a reason for this and it did not happen overnight. Consumer's fears are valid. But there is a fix. It is on our hands. We need to take back control.

Sharing the Farm with Wildlife

The pastures where we raise our livestock are not only home to our animals. They are frequented by the local wildlife population. Deer, turkey, foxes, and rabbits are among the many varieties that call our farm home. But it's not just because they live there that they frequent our pastures. Read on to learn how we actually design the way we farm to welcome the existence of a healthy, local, wildlife population.
