A pretty simple and easy way to sear a delicious NY Strip Steak over a very hot campfire. You can also use charcoal or gas for the days you don't want to cook over a fire pit.
- Prep Time:
- Servings: 1-2 per steak
Ingredients
Directions
Prepare a very hot grill or fire. If you have a hot bed of coals, place your cooking grate 8 inches or so away from the coals.
Just prior to grilling:
- Season the steaks to your liking with garlic powder (or chopped fresh garlic), fresh ground black pepper and salt.
- Coat the steaks in olive oil.
Grill the steaks:
- Flip the steak every minute or so to develop a nice, seared crust and prevent overcooking one side.
- Check internal temp with an instant-read thermometer.
- Remove from heat when the internal temp reaches 125°-135° F (depending on your preference for doneness).
- Let rest under aluminum foil for 15 minutes.
Slice and enjoy!
